Blogging 201: Day Nine – The Buddy System
Today’s assignment: find a blogging buddy. If appropriate, plan to publish guest posts on one another’s blogs.
If you’re not going to guest post, you can still be helpful buddies. Promote each other’s posts on your social networks — we know you’re looking for more content to share. Link to them in posts, or from your sidebar. And of course, keep using one another for candid feedback and moral support.
What is the buddy system or guest blogger? As what I understand is a online peer blogger with whom you can communicate regarding the publishing the blog’s content. Guest blogging is one of the few effective strategies in reaching out or building your readers/audience, it also drives traffic back to your own blog, as guest posting takes a lot of effort and time.
I had researched that being a guest blogger is one of the few ways to be a great writer, as frequent writing for a variety of audiences on variety of topics will help us improve faster, and will improve our technical skills, and to have a building relationships in the blogosphere.
Well as for me, only when the time is right. Successful relationships take time and hosting a guest blogger is no exception. I will stay as a supporter for all the WP bloggers out there.
Have you hosted a guest blogger before? Share your experience or the link of the blog and any tips you have in the comments.
Doing my first host tomorrow of (hopefully) many more to come – fairly positive about it, but fingers crossed it doesn’t look rubbish! Hoping more will come forward per month, we’ll see 🙂

I really want to do some of the activities in blogging 201 but I must admit some of it really require time and effort. This task is one. I just keep notes/ideas and will try to build on it in the future. 🙂

Go for it Kat, it really needs time and effort, if you want you blog’s content to be passionate about you, see you around and have a nice weekend 🙂

I think it’s a lot to ask for a guest post in this short time frame, but it’s encouraging to start building connections

I love this idea but it feels uncomfortable. Can you provide us with some tips on how to initiate this process?

I’ve had several guest bloggers and it always went well. I guess the secret lies in the discussion we have before. We talk expectations, them, word count, deadlines, publication dates and usually, we end up both satisfied of the collaboration.

Good to hear that, thank you, I will keep that in my notes 😊👍

I am very new to blogging so have not had either a buddy or a guest on my blog. But, there is certainly room for both. Preferably, they would be supportive of the brand I am trying to build.
Btw…your blog shows perfectly in my mobile view just like a normal desktop view though the fonts are small. No scrolling!

Thank you Michael, the mobile view I guess it is how it is as part of WP theme package or something, any tips that you can share if it needs a little change or not, I do appreciate this kind of feedback 👍😊

Like the idea of a buddy system but agree with you has to be the right time, and also the right buddy for guest blogging. Some blogs just wouldn’t work for a guest post, but work brilliantly with regular supporters.

Starting to get it but not sure how to nail down someone else’s audience. For example much of what you do is about fashion. My writing is just about life. What if I wrote a piece about fashion for we larger women over 60 – would that work?

Hi Peggy, well before you make a buddy system to another blogger, I guess it would be good to have a little research about his/her blog, to see what is the blog’s objectives/goals, for me as a stylist, fashion is being comfortable on what you wear 🙂

You are right Pamela, in fairness to the other bloggers, they are a friendly by nature, you have to keep looking, or maybe you found one 🙂

An idea to think about. I haven’t been doing this for very long so I don’t know that many other bloggers.
