Writing 101: Day Sixteen – Search Your Stats For A Post Idea

Writing 101 day sixteen,

Your stats page isn’t just a place to monitor your views and visitors, referrers and clicks, and a snapshot of your posting activity. You can find ideas for future posts, too. Click on the “Months” or “Years” tab on your stats page to see cross-sections of stats in different months.

  • Top Posts & Pages: What posts are perpetually popular? Can you write a follow-up to one of them?
  • Countries: Where are most of your visitors coming from? Can you publish a post that might be of interest to these viewers?
  • Search Terms: What words and phrases do people search that lead them to your blog? Think of a post that addresses a search term you see again and again.
  • Referrers: What sites or specific posts are sending you visitors? Are there post topics you can write about that might be of interest to these readers?
  • Clicks: What links are your visitors clicking on? Can you publish your own original content on these topics?

If you don’t glean anything from your stats page, consider one of these prompts instead:

  • If you were forced to make your blog private, would that affect your writing?
  • Overnight, you discover you’ve gained 50,000 blog subscribers. What would you write for your next post?
  • One day, you notice a strange stat. Write a short piece of fiction or poem that describe what you see, and/or what happens.

Well, according to my stats, most viewed posts that I have is my adventure with Blogging University.

According to my Poll as of 14th September 2015 (which you can answer anytime you want), and my Survey as of 27 September, 2015 (which will be closed at 1st of October, 2015), don’t be sad if you missed it if by chance you read this post after October 2, I would make more of it soon, so most likely of my readers prefer to have my blog’s contents to be inspiring and Author’s pick (which is me of course, hahaha!)
