New Year 2020 – For my blog

Hello neighbors,

It’s been a long time since I have been on my blog, I am in my bittersweet in my new role as a mother. I am not here to share my aches but the share my thoughts outside of motherhood, as a single human being 🙂

Starting 2020, I am setting my goals, whether it will happen or not. I want to read in this blog what should I have to achieve as a person who wants to achieve something outside of motherhood or being a parents.

For my blog, I read this article (you may read the whole blog for details) on how to start and get ready to blog again. I have listed which I can achieve realistically. So here we go:

a. REMOVE UNNECESSARY CLUTTER

So, take some time out to work out what needs to be on your blog and what doesn’t. If it doesn’t help you or your readers – consider removing it.

My opinion: I am considering it.

b. GIVE YOUR BLOG A FRESH LOOK

Blog design is incredibly important. Your template/theme has got to be modern with a focus on readability and speed. And, as your blog grows, you may find you’ve outgrown your current design.

My opinion: I will do my best and will give you some updates, I am starting to do it on 2020, hopefully I will succeed.

c. FIND AND FIX BROKEN LINKS (404 ERRORS) ON YOUR WEBSITE

My opinion: It will take time as I have to plan a fresh look of my blog, hopefully I will give you some updates for it.

d. RUN A CONTENT AUDIT TO IMPROVE CONTENT PERFORMANCE

So, the best thing you can do is to audit your content and improve anything that can be improved. Consider everything from content formatting to optimizing for searcher intent.

My opinion: This is a working progress.

e. TAKE SOMETIME TO LEARN ABOUT YOUR AUDIENCE

The more you know about your audience, the better you can serve them.

My opinion: Everyday is a learning process.

f. LEARN A NEW SKILLS TO INCREASE YOUR POTENTIAL EARNINGS.

So, what could you learn about? There are plenty of options:

  • Copywriting
  • SEO
  • Email marketing
  • Social media strategy
  • Content strategy
  • Web design

The key is to take what you learn and put it into practice on your own blog. Experience is essential.

My opinion: Hopefully to do it this year.

g. TAKE YOUR BRANDING TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH A FRESH LOGO.

On progress, either have a good logo or don’t have one at all – just use straight-up text instead. Low quality or badly designed logos are one of the biggest credibility killers for websites.

My opinion: This is a working progress.

h. PLAN OUT YOUR CONTENT FOR THE NEXT 12 MONTHS.

Once you know what to write about, you can consider how you’re going to frame your content.

You’ll need to choose a variety of blog post types:

  • How-to’s
  • Tutorials
  • Listicles
  • Reviews
  • Opinion posts
  • Interviews
  • Personal stories

You could take things a step further by repurposing these blog posts for different audiences by turning them into different content types.

My opinion: This is a working progress.

i. PREPARE FOR THE NEXT PHASE OF YOUR BLOG’S EVOLUTION

Is your blog for fun or money? Building a blog takes time.

I don’t mean the technical part. That’s pretty easy.

But once you get your blog launched, building it into something that gets regular visitors is going to take some time.

For that reason, it’s important you pick a topic you can see yourself writing about over the long haul.

My opinion: I always keep in my mind to have an open possibility of changing things.

j. ORIENT YOURSELF AND YOUR BLOG WITH A FOOLPROOF PLAN

As bloggers, content is our bread and butter. As such, it’s easy to focus entirely on our content plan.

But there’s a limit to the scope of a content plan. You need a top-level plan for your blog. It needs to be crystal clear so you know exactly where your blog is going.

Think of it like a business plan. And, if your goal is to earn a living from your blog – that’s exactly what you need.

My opinion: Never say never for the changes.

I hope you learn something from this post as I did. What’s your future plan for your life or your blog? Comment below and I might learn from you as well.
